Rongxuan (Raphael) Wang
Assistant Professor
Dr. Wang’s academic journey includes a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University (2015), a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech (2019), and a doctoral degree in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech (May 2023). Motivated by a desire to broaden his understanding beyond machine mechanics, he chose industrial and systems engineering to gain a comprehensive system-level perspective.
His current research focuses on advanced sensing, instrumentation, data analytics, and control in advanced manufacturing. Dr. Wang’s outstanding contributions have earned him several accolades, including the IISE Manufacturing and Design Division Best Student Paper Award (2023) and the IISE Data Analytics and Information Systems Division Mobile/Web App Competition (2023). Notably, he received the Robert J. Lyman Award from the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute in 2022, recognizing his significant contribution to the advancement of general constructions. Dr. Wang has also been honored with prestigious scholarships, including the Gilbreth Memorial Fellowship from IISE and Alpha Pi Mu National Scholarships.
